Lance is an American musician and songwriter best known to ’90s independent music fans for his work with the Seattle-based band Micro Mini. The band released their debut EP, This Is Jennie, in 1997, followed by the LP Get In The Go-Go Cage in 1998. Both releases were issued by Seattle indie label Collective Fruit. During the band’s three active years (1996–1998), Micro Mini toured extensively, including appearances at the then-burgeoning SXSW festival in Austin, TX, and performances throughout the West Coast. They shared bills with a number of influential alternative rock acts, including Death Cab for Cutie, The Presidents of the United States of America, That Dog, Love Battery, OMC, Ednaswap, Modest Mouse, Harvey Danger, Phantom Planet and Bandcamp, among others.

After moving to Los Angeles, Lance released his solo LP Clean Car in 2005, a collection of songs inspired by life in California during the early 2000s. By 2007, Lance was living in Nashville, where he later formed Montessori Dads with a group of musician friends from New York, Los Angeles and Nashville. Their debut LP, Black & White & Pink, was released in 2015 and supported by shows in New York, Austin, Seattle and Nashville. Over the years, Montessori Dads have had the privilege of performing with sElf, Thee Oh Sees, Dogstar, The Posies, The Features and many other great bands. In 2026, Montessori Dads returned to the studio with producer Mark Watrous (Loudermilk, The Shins, touring member of The Raconteurs) to record their second LP. The album is slated for release in February 2027 and, like the band’s debut, will be available on 12-inch vinyl and through all major streaming platforms.
